Ready to Run (RTR) Radio Control Models

There is a growing number of RC models becoming available at relatively low prices. Many of these perform very well. However if two models are using the same radio frequency there is the potential for loss of control and possible loss or damage to one or more models.

Crystal Controlled RC sets: If your model is labelled with a number which looks like "27.xxxMHz (e.g. 27.145MHz) or 40.xxxMHz (e.g. 40.695Mhz) it is crystal controlled. On Club days you must register your frequency on the Frequency Peg Board, ask a Club member if you are not sure how.

Non-crystal controlled: If your model is simply specified as "27MHz" (or less often "40MHz") then it probably does not have a precise, crystal controlled RC system. In that case we would ask you not to use the model on Club days. You might interfere with the control of other models, or our radios will interfere with your control of your model with the possibility of collision, or more likely, your model will simply drift off to some difficult to access part of the pond! If you are not sure if your model has a crystal controlled frequency please ask a Club member to check it for you.

Please remember that many of the Club models cost hundreds or even a thousand pounds or more, and represent many weeks work to build. Also that the Club pays the Forestry Commission for the use of the pond. Please adhere to the frequency regulations if you come to the pond on Club days.
