Giacomo is a scratch built all wood model of an American West Coast shrimp boat. The original design drawing for it was given as a Free Plan in the April 2003 edition of the Model Boats magazine, along with a descriptive article on how best to build it, by the originator- Glyn Guest, who has provided many similar excellent designs.

In June 2010, Giacomo underwent a refit and at the same time a new diesel engine sound unit, built by Alan Bond, was included in the model. The video shows Giacomo during her post refit first sailing on Setley Pond in the New Forest; the very realistic sound of her new diesel engine can clearly be heard.
