BP Forties: 54 foot Arun Class Lifeboat

The model is based on one of the four 54 foot Aruns built for the RNLI, the remainder being cut down to 52 feet to improve sea keeping in a following sea. The model chosen was of the "BP Forties" funded by the BP oil company and based in Aberdeen then afterwards sold on to the Icelandic Rescue Services at the end of her RNLI career.

The model uses a David Metcalf GRP Hull and Superstructure, the rest being scratchbuilt from brass, plastic etc. etc. and based on the plans of the BP Forties purchased from the RNLI in Poole. She is to a scale of 1/20 and powered by two 777 motors running on 9.6 volts.
