OK, the Royal Barge was photographed on the 14th July but we had to await permission from Her Majesty's Press Office before publication! Then, on the 4th August gales kept most craft in harbour. The pilot cutter "Hilda" revelled in the strong winds, chasing and occasionally spearing the racing yachts on her formidable bowsprit. Sanity returned on the 11th August with calm conditions favouring the postponed Steering Competition. Atlantic Challenger and the Paddle Steamer Glasgow took advantage of the flat water, each in her own way... Meanwhile Hafton was blowing smoke rings! And welcome to Alan Ovenden, the latest member to feature on the web site!

Steering Competition on 11th August 2013
	Richard Graham Trophy 2013 (View album of all photos)	David McNair-Taylor won the 2013 Richard Graham Trophy with a clear round. Bob Eaton was second (also clear), and Paul Nixon third. Eight members competed in near perfect conditions with calm winds.

	Solent Cup 2013 (View album of all photos)	Andy Davis won the Steering Competition on 21st July 2013 and was presented with the Solent Cup. Paul Nixon was second and Dave Reith third.
Lady Esme (Paul Nixon) [album] [HR]	The main event of the day was the Steering Competition for the Solent Cup. However having steered his Puffer model to second place, Paul Nixon took advantage of the generally calm conditions for a maiden voyage of his rather fine 1 to 24 scale model of a sailing trawler. Although based on the Brixham Trawler design, Paul's fishing vessel is registered in Poole!

Another sunny day and our Shelduck flock is now complete with photos of Roy Metcalfe's "Mudlark". Also long standing member Athanasios Kanias ("Thanasis" for short) was at last able to come to the pond with some fine models, here we have photos of his "HMS Exeter".
