The Club Charity Exhibition in aid of the RNLI and "Help for Heroes" provided a fantastic show at the Lymington Masonic Hall on Saturday, September 3rd: 112 Model Boats on display, videos and model demonstrations!

Holding the 2011 Lymington Lifeboat Day on the same day as the annual Sailing Club "Bath Race" (Sunday, 21st August) proved a great success. The SRCMBC exhibition in the Lifeboat Station was thronged with visitors throughout the day.

The Club's 2011 Navy Day was held on Sunday, 24th July, with many fine models on display at the lakeside and much action on the pond.

The Richard Graham Steering Competition Trophy for 2011 was won by Andy Griggs with a clear round. That everyone had to use the same boat and that the boat was Andy's may have helped, but the victory was emphatic (Full Results). The testing course was set by John Frost.

The club exhibition on the 4th September 2010 at the Masonic Hall, Lymington, was in support of the Lymington New Forest Hospital, the RNLI, and Help for Heroes. It proved a very popular event.

Navy Day 2010 on the 17th June. A fine display of warships on shore and in the water and a beautiful sunny day cooled by the sea breeze.

The 2010 Steering Competition for the Richard Graham Trophy was held on June 6th. With pleasant weather, and a good number of spectators, Nick Leaper triumphed with a clear round.

Members of the Vintage Model Yacht Group visited Setley Pond on the 9th May 2010. A northeast to north wind made conditions tricky for their "pond yachts" (that is, no radio control), and one or two models flirted with the dangers lurking at the far end of the pond... submerged branches, water lilies, and dense undergrowth on the banks!

The Club's 2010 Annual Exhibition took place in Highcliffe on Saturday 13th March. A impressive range of models were on display.

The 2009 Christmas Lunch was held at the South Lawn Hotel on 12th December and a good time was had by all!

Sunday, 23rd August saw a very good turnout at the pond. The event was won by Andy Griggs, second was David McNair Taylor, and third was Andrew Davis; all had clear rounds so the result was decided on timing. Here are the full results, and this was the course.

On the 12th June 2009, Carol and Ray Hellicar generously hosted a Club BBQ at their home in Mudeford, Christchurch. Here are some photos of the event which was enjoyed by all.

Some photos from Lymington Lifeboat day on the 2nd August 2009. One advantage at Lymington is that we are able to display our models in the Lifeboat house.

The Calshot Lifeboat Day 2009 was held on Sunday 12th July. The RNLI had constructed a fine model boat pool which proved very popular. Unfortunately the site is very exposed and a table blew over causing damage to some models.

In addition to the SRCMBC, entertainments at Calshot included "Stormy Sam", Zap Cats, Team 101 lifeboat vaulters, a climbing/abseiling frame from Calshot Activity Centre, Morris Dancers, and a Brass Band. There were also some inflatable games (not pictured!).

Given the very strong winds, on two occasions when the RNLI were about to do a demonstration they had to go off and rescue someone for real! However when they did manage to do their displays they were impressive.

With the strong winds there were thrills and spills out on the water. Most people can rescue themselves, but you can see why the Calshot RNLI Station is one of the busiest in the country!

David McNair-Taylor participated in the Portsmouth "Meet the Navy Day" on the 11th July. There's some photos of his models, but mainly photos of the Navy's brand new Type 45 Destroyer, HMS Daring. Lots of flat, radar deflecting, surfaces so looks like an easy ship to build and you could sell one cheap to the Navy! However, apparently all the expense is in the computers below decks.

The R36R Metropolitan and Southern District Championships on 16th May 2009.

The Class R36R Metropolitan and Southern District Sailing Championships were being hosted by our Sailing Section on 16th May 2009; here are the yachts. Click on the thumbnails for a larger image and information about the yacht.

A "Grey sunny day at the pond" (to quote John Frost). It's Navy Day and the "Grey Funnel Line" are on view. It was a very good attendance but we did have one or two interlopers. "Burt the Squirt's" water canon looks more suited to riot control than warfare and, well, I guess the donkey was actually grey!

The Club held its Annual Exhibition in Highcliffe on Saturday 14th March in conjunction with the local branch of the RNLI supporters. Most of these photos were taken early in the day before it got busy!

The club had a great display at the Lymington Lifeboat day on 3rd August. They had record takings in the shop and a lot of public interest despite poor weather. A framed photo of the Lifeboat was presented to the Club as a token of thanks.

David Reith and David McNair Taylor took part in "Meet Your Navy " week-end in Portsmouth historic dockyard as members of the Surface Warship Association. Held over the last weekend in July, the excellent four day show had lots of interest and many visitors, and was also attended by the Portsmouth Model Boat Club and Display Team. As well as static displays they did several on water displays per day.

The Club's 30th Anniversary BBQ and Club Day was held on Sunday 13th July at Setley Pond. The Harbour was set up, there was an impromtu Steering Competition, a charity raffle, and even a toilet!!! The weather favoured us and a great day was had by all. (Photographs by Peter Taylor)

The last Romsey Model World, held on 8th September 2007, was supported by the club. Unfortunately the event attracted a relatively disapointing crowd and, after running for a number of years, it has now been discontinued.

The Solent Cup 2007 Steering Competition held on 1st September at Setley Pond.

The Richard Graham 2007 Steering Competition was held on the 2nd day of the June at Setley Pond.

The 2007 Highcliffe show was held on the 7th March. Over £550 was raised for the RNLI.

The Hythe Raft Race is held in support of the RNLI. The 2006 event took place on the 27th August and great fun was had by all.

The 2006 Calshot Lifeboat Day on 22nd July was Very Hot! A large inflatable life-raft served as a model boat pond.

The SRCMBC attended the Anniversary meeting of the Waterside Model Boat Club at Ganng Warily park on the 4th June 2006.
