What's New 2010?

What was new in 2010?

(Click on the date to view the details)

December 2010 Snow, a frozen pond, and the car park closed for resurfacing... not much model boat activity but Peter Taylor's "Archimedes Bug" ventured forth and there were more improved movies on the web site.
November 2010 Lots of new wide-screen movies including Brian 'Tug' Wilson's movie of the shake-down cruise of his frigate "HMS Surprise" (filmed during June). The new movies are now presented with a "Thumbnail" version which allows them to be viewed on slower internet connections or with less fast computers.
October 2010 Lots of new Electronics from Alan Bond. Also the start of a new emphasis on Movies with wide screen movies appearing in our "Photos and Movies" galleries.
August & September 2010 August was rainy and your webmaster was away from the pond! However September started in great style with the Club's very successful Charity Exhibition in Lymington.
July 2010 More from the "Navy Day", Peter Taylor got a 1m racing yacht, David Edward's "Columbia" braves the gales, and a fine day for Lymington Lifeboat Day.
June 2010 The Richard Graham Steering Competition and the 2010 Navy Day. Also photographs from some windy days at the pond.
May 2010 Poor weather resulted in less activity at the pond during the first part of the month. However, the Vintage Model Yacht Group visited with their free sailing yachts sometimes sailing into danger! New scale models included Richard Densham's HMS Amethyst, David McNair-Taylor's Perkasa model, and Barry Thomas' Stern Trawler.
April 2010 Some graceful Sailing Ships performing under conditions both calm and squally, a Steam Yacht, an invitation to Spain, the latest on Alan Bond's Marine Engine Sound Unit and a Super-tanker visits the pond!
March 2010 The Highcliffe Show; new models at the pond included David McNair-Taylor's "Sir Galahad", John Cooper's "Vital Spark" (borrowed from Para Handy) and Richard Densham's "Maggie M" and "Paula D", while several models made their first appearance on the web site. Making way for the new comers, a number of models were offered for sale, and rapidly sold.
January & February 2010 The pond frozen over in January; memories of the Setley Prisoner of War Camp; sadly, in February, the death of Arthur Lord.
