What's New 2011?

What was new in 2011?

(Click on the date to view the details)

December 2011 New web site pages about the pond, its history, and the history of the Club. Also some photos of the pond at times when it was full to over flowing; not the rather low level seen at the end of 2011! Alan Bond has produced a new easily programmed sound system.
November 2011 New models at the pond included Greg Read's RAF launch, John Tybjerg's "Uncle Sam" a paddle wheel tug, and our square rigged fleet saw the addition of Allan Read's brigantine "Raven". Nigel James yachts included a prototype America's Cup 12m, somewhat more modern than David Edward's 130 year old contender "Livonia"!
October 2011 Club Days were bedevilled by bad weather but next year's "Setley Pond Calendar" appeared and the autumn newsletter featured a bathymetric survey of the pond - wow!
September 2011 Charity exhibition at the Masonic Hall, Lymington; photos include Mike Sheppard's historic paddle ship and albums by Dave Paget and John Edwards.
August 2011 Grand Banks schooner in storm, Solent Cup Steering Competition, Lymington Lifeboat Day and Bath Race!
July 2011 Steering Competition for the Richard Graham Trophy, Navy Day, and lots of photos in the new format photo galleries.
June 2011 What seemed like the first rains of the year; new movies included one starting in David McNair-Taylor's back garden, and a new feature... photos of the members so we can work out who is who!
May 2011 Where did the calm weather go? But there are more photo's in the "Latest Photos" gallery.
April 2011 Lots more higher resolution photos and a new format for the "Latest Photos" gallery.
March 2011 Good weather at last! The 2011 Highcliffe Show was a success with very good attendance. The photo galleries saw the introduction of the option to view higher resolution photos.
February 2011 Poor weather for most of the month but there were revised and improved versions of past movies and "Hints and Tips" from Alan Bond on programming his sound units and from David Edwards and Reg Radley on sail control on square rigged ships.
January 2011 The road to the car park was closed so the pond was quiet and the Heron and Cormorant were filmed fishing in peace.
